Early Bird Deadline Approaching!

Level One offers a thorough grounding in the theories and techniques of Hakomi Mindful Somatic Psychotherapy. Level One includes in-depth coverage of the Hakomi principles, Hakomi theories, maps and models as well as specific techniques. Training weekends include a mix of didactic material, experiential exercises, discussion, movement/embodiment exercises, group maintenance time and supervised practice times.

This training is for licensed mental health professionals, graduate students working towards becoming a therapist, and licensed healing arts practitioners, and people transitioning into the field of somatic therapy who have experience working 1-to-1 with clients who want to learn the method in its entirety.

The goals of the Training are to provide students with: first, a deep understanding of the principles of the Hakomi Method and the ability to work within them in an attitude of loving presence. Second, an understanding of the techniques of the Hakomi therapeutic process and the ability to use these precisely and appropriately. Third, an understanding of the organization of personality and character into patterns that reveal developmental and cultural wounding, and the ability to use this understanding discriminatingly. Fourth, an understanding of one’s own inner organization and the process of using self as an instrument for therapy.

Every client arrives as a whole person—not just with the story they tell, but with the lived experiences, identities, and histories they carry.

As clinicians, our work is to create spaces where all of someone is welcome. That means cultivating cultural awareness, embodied presence, and the capacity to meet people across differences with curiosity, humility, and care.

In this experiential introduction to the Hakomi Method, we'll explore how working within the Hakomi Principles and Practices can deepen the therapeutic relationship and support greater trust across social location. Together, we'll examine practical ways to foster belonging, authenticity, and safety for BIPOC, Q***r, Indigenous, Global Majority, and other historically marginalized clients—while strengthening our own presence as therapists.

Join us for a live demonstration, experiential learning, and practical tools you can begin using immediately in your clinical work.

In these turbulent times, the systems of oppression are literally pressing down on our clients in increasingly harmful ways. As clinicians, we have a powerful opportunity—and responsibility—to be a part of our collective healing. By showing up with cultural awareness, presence, and authenticity, we create the conditions for real transformation.

Come together to explore these questions and more!

How do we, as Indigenous people, members of the Global Majority, or committed Allies, meet suffering with compassion and skill?

How do we support the authentic unfolding of our BIPOC, Q***r, and other oppressed populations/clients, in order to increase their felt sense of belonging?

How do we, as either Indigenous, Global Majority or Allies, support all who are suffering?

Through the lens of 3 particularly relevant principles of Hakomi, we will “study” our own experiences, translate this into practical skills to support others unfolding, coupled with an opportunity to witness a “live” demonstration of the Hakomi Method!

Join us for this experiential introduction to Hakomi. You’ll learn about the foundations of our 7-month training and walk away with tools you can begin using right away to foster connection, safety, and depth in your clinical work.

What you will learn:

Describe the core principles of the Hakomi Method: including mindfulness, organicity, non-violence, unity and body-mind holism.
Be able to recognize the link between mindfulness, organicity, and non-violence specifically as pathways to increased safety and authenticity within the therapeutic alliance.
Describe 2 pathways for increasing trust across social location.

Experience the power of Hakomi with an Introductory Workshop

Hakomi is a body-centered (somatic) approach. The body is viewed as a “map of the psyche” – a door that can be opened to reveal the entire unconscious belief system of the individual. The body’s habitual patterns can become a powerful access route to deeply held core material.

Current neuroscience research has confirmed the basis for many foundational aspects of the Hakomi Method, including the effectiveness of mindfulness, loving presence, empathic attunement, limbic resonance, and memory reconsolidation.

We develop exquisite sensitivity and attunement, using empathic skills to read and contact subtle, unconscious cues. When integrated into the session with unique Hakomi techniques, it creates a rapid, experiential access route to unconscious core beliefs and implicit memories that invisibly shape our lives and behavior. Once conscious and directly experienced, these are available for memory re- consolidation and transformation, including the healing of attachment issues. This experiential process evokes a powerful “felt sense” for the client, allowing them to take ownership of core patterns as they emerge, and to integrate new options.

This workshop provides an immersive introduction to the Method, this includes lectures from the faculty, experiential exercises, demonstrations, discussion, group process sessions, and Supervision.

We find ourselves in a moment where coming together and taking action is our only real option. This is too much to hold on our own.

That’s why we're excited to support The Outer Work Project — a program designed to connect and support all of us who care deeply, want to make a bigger difference in our communities and world, and want to learn how.

The Outer Work Project is a 3-month program starting this summer that centres around learning and transforming together while finding a social movement organization that resonates for you. Learn from people who have been there before, done the personal healing work and moved into collective action.

We all have a role to play. Let’s do together. Learn more and sign up via .
