Studio still life… Aside from working in my collage diary, I’ve taken a few weeks off to do a lot of looking, thinking, planning — and participating in some creative writing courses too. Such a luxury and now so many ideas percolating in my brain…

1) Collage works on paper that I’m mulling over, along with postcards from Denver Art Museum’s The Stars We Do Not See: Australian Indigenous Art and from Portland Art Museum’s David Hockney exhibition. Both exhibitions are worth seeing if you’re in the vicinity.

My reference photos related to, but not the same works as the postcards… (why are my favorites almost never available as postcards?!)
2) Detail from a huge piece by 12 Manyjilyjarra women, spanning three generations, who collaborated on this painting of Ngayartu Kujarra (Lake Dora), synthetic polymer paint on canvas.
3) Detail from the vase portion of a Hockney (RIP) iPad painting, still life of flowers in vase, printed on paper.

Catching up on posting two-page spreads from the 2026 collage diary… I’m continuing the practice of making a small collage in a diary every day, then posting it to my Instagram story. I think of each page as its own composition but the spreads have turned out to be interesting too.
