Lithium-ion batteries power everything from e-bikes to power tools, but when they fail, they fail fast. This drone footage shows a garage fire caused by a lithium-ion battery going into thermal runaway, a growing risk we're seeing more often in residential properties.
A few reminders:
⚡ Store lithium-ion batteries away from vehicles and flammable materials
⚡ Never charge unattended overnight
⚡ Use manufacturer-approved chargers only
If a fire does strike, Legacy Restoration is here 24/7 for fire, smoke, and structural damage restoration.

🚨 A reminder that even something as common as a bathroom exhaust fan can lead to major property damage if it malfunctions.
Aurora Fire Rescue in Colorado recently responded to an attic fire caused by a malfunctioning bathroom exhaust fan. Thankfully, no injuries were reported, but three residents were displaced and the home sustained significant fire and smoke damage.
The homeowner first noticed a smoke odor and issues with the fan before the fire escalated hours later into an active attic fire. Situations like this are an important reminder that continuously running exhaust fans, aging motors, dust buildup, or restricted airflow can create overheating risks over time.
For homeowners, property managers, HOAs, and multifamily communities, preventative maintenance is critical. Avoid leaving exhaust fans running unnecessarily for long periods, clean bathroom exhaust fans regularly to prevent dust and lint buildup, inspect venting to ensure airflow isn’t restricted, replace aging or noisy fans before failure occurs, test smoke alarms frequently, take unusual electrical smells or sounds seriously.
Fast emergency response and proper mitigation can make a major difference in reducing secondary damage and helping families return home sooner.
