I would watch my father for hours as he improved upon his model train set in the basement, hanging airplanes from the ceiling and adding a summer retreat with a simple addition of some plastic waves. Any concert I’d go to I’d add another to my collection but soon I fo

Last month I kicked off the new year by teaching a Make Your Own Mini Plant Workshop at the Art Students League of Denver (ASLD). In this sold out class participants learned how to make mini monsteras and small snake plants out of polymer clay with cork pots. This was such a nice way to start the new year. Flip through the photos to see what students made.
Missed out on my last workshop? Registration is now open for spring classes at the ASLD. I will be teaching two 4-week long workshops entitled Miniatures for a Modern World where participants will learn the basics of model building and create their own 1:12 scale room. The first session in March is open to young artists ages 11-13 and the second session is open to artists ages 16+. Tap the link in my bio to learn more and register.

I’ve been in the studio a lot lately, working on an Experiments in Public Art Project for the City of Boulder. Myself and my collaborative partner Shannon Geis have been observing the process of the first ever convening of a Community Assembly which first started meeting in May of this year.
Over the course of six months we’ve observed 48 community members as they assessed the feasibility of a 15 minute neighborhood for the city of Boulder and worked together to define what a 15 minute neighborhood is. We heard from many guest speakers, local business owners, community advocates, and representatives from municipalities as far as Australia. The culminating audiovisual installation will pair recorded interviews with participants gathered throughout the process with a sculptural representation of a collective vision for the future.
I look forward to sharing more about this experience in the coming weeks as the project nears its completion, including where you’ll be able to see and experience this audiovisual installation in the months ahead.
In the meantime, please enjoy some photos taken over the course of the past seven months.
