Severe weather returns with a vengeance Sunday and Monday across the Plains and Midwest 👀
After a crazy quiet first half of the month… Here come the changes!
05/12/2026
It's a big day for FLASH. We just launched the world's first high resolution, deep learning AI hail prediction model.
What it does: forecasts hail size and arrival time at 1-kilometer resolution, refreshed every 5 minutes, with up to 55 minutes of lead time before the first stone falls.
Why it matters: Cotality's 2026 report puts more than 43 million U.S. homes in moderate or greater hail risk, with a single major hailstorm now capable of generating losses on par with a Category 4 hurricane. State Farm alone paid out over $5.6 billion in hail claims last year.
Until today, the industry's only option was detection (telling you hail is already falling). We just turned it into prediction.
Live now in the Weather Command Center (app.flashweather.ai). Mobile app integration + real-time notifications coming over the next few weeks.
Insurance, automotive/fleet, roofing, solar, ag, construction, golf, schools and sports: this was built for you.

Thankfully we saw only a couple confirmed tornado reports on Monday!
(4/26): Monday could be one of the biggest severe weather days of the year 👀
The ingredients are there for a potential tornado outbreak in the Midwest and South🌪️
Another day with widespread severe weather is coming Friday.
From Wisconsin to Texas, tornadoes, hail up to baseball size, and damaging winds are all expected.
