I want to see a better world for my children.

I know this is a random sentiment to post about but hear me out.

Why are some people today so defensive over their ideas? Why does any questioning of somebody’s advice or idea or suggestion be met with hostility and self defensiveness?

Why can’t we question each other and have an open discussion of ideas (surrounding any topic) without feeling personally attacked?

 i’ve noticed when I’m discussing a topic with somebody that I’m frequently met with ad hominem, secular, or political sorts of attacks.

Instead of civilly defending our ideas we just go after each others character.

I think the world needs to do better at separating ideas from personalities/ the character of each other. We’re doing ourselves and other a disservice by not being able to discuss ideas.
