Today, we honor Juneteenth, the day that marked the end of slavery in the United States on June 19, 1865. This day commemorates the moment when Union General Gordon Granger arrived in Galveston, Texas, and announced that all enslaved people were free, two and a half years after President Lincoln’s Emancipation Proclamation.

Juneteenth is a powerful reminder of freedom, resilience, and the ongoing fight for equality and justice. It celebrates African American culture and heritage, recognizing the strength and contributions of the Black community throughout history.

Let’s take this moment to reflect on the progress made and the work still to be done. Together, we can create a future where freedom truly means freedom for all.
