I regularly get asked if election officials collaborate. The answer is yes - because democracy is a team sport.

This week I was in Raleigh, North Carolina with elected officials and democracy leaders from across the country talking about what’s at stake for our elections in 2026 and 2028.

The threats to our democracy are real — from election denialism to attacks on voting rights to attempts to undermine public trust in elections themselves. And this moment demands leaders who actually know how elections work and how to protect them.

As an elections official, attorney, and someone who has spent my career fighting to expand access to the ballot box, I’m not just watching these threats unfold — I’m preparing to fight back.

Colorado deserves a Secretary of State who is ready on day one to defend our democracy, protect every eligible voter’s freedom to vote, and stand up to anyone who tries to take us backwards.

I’m ready for that fight.
