Final Protective Line Academy

Another hot but great day of training. A home defense course that included the fundamentals of shooting, room clearing, actions on contact, and tactical decision-making. Developing a home defense plan is important, and that plan should center around the word, "defense." Your plan should be to secure your principle, defend in place, and get first responders on the way. Going on offense is a possibility and should be rehearsed, but it should never be the primary ingredient in a "home defense" plan.

I held my Long Range Precision Rifle Course yesterday, and what a great day of training it was. 11 shooters, including one lady. Everything from internal and external ballistics, gathering statistical data, DOPE book management, equipment selection, fundamentals of shooting, reading atmospheric conditions, and of course, lots of shooting. I had three 1000 yard shooters and two 900 yard shooters, with a strong wind blowing most of the day. Everyone had a great time, and the learning was off the charts.

It was a very successful first lesson for this gentleman. He has a gun that he normally uses for concealed carry, but after a simple drill to test his accuracy and speed, he quickly saw that it wasn't optimum for the vast majority of self-defense situations, and perhaps there are better options. Fortunately, I was able to provide a gun for him to sample, and he is now the proud and far more confident owner of a new concealed carry gun.
