DENHAM SPRINGS September 27, 2019 -- OK Computers & Auto Sales has been selected for the 2019 Best of Denham Springs Award in the Computer Repair Service category by the Denham Springs Award Program.

Each year, the Denham Springs Award Program identifies companies that we believe have achieved exceptional marketing success in their local community and business category. These are local companies that enhance the positive image of small business through service to their customers and our community. These exceptional companies help make the Denham Springs area a great place to live, work and play.
Various sources of information were gathered and analyzed to choose the winners in each category. The 2019 Denham Springs Award Program focuses on quality, not quantity. Winners are determined based on the information gathered both internally by the Denham Springs Award Program and data provided by third parties.

Animal Control!!

First and foremost we need to educate the community on the increasing needs of the shelter, encourage community involvement. The need for owners to spay or neuter their pets. We can do this with some proactive approaches. Sterilization program, spaying, and neutering will ultimately increase demand for adoption. Would like to get schools involved in programs with students. They go to zoos and aquariums, and the movies? why not the shelter? This approach has proven to be successful with the boy scouts and girl scouts. People, in general, do not understand what " kill or no-kill " by definition means. The use of euthanasia is practiced there I would hope only in the case of terminally ill or dangerous aggressive animals. The adoption programs and rescue organizations are imperative to control overcrowding and prevent the need to consider other options.
Thanks to the undeniable dedication and commitment to the shelter by the hands-on volunteers, and donations from local businesses. It would be my belief that the people who oppose the shelter are likely the ones who abuse it the most and will be the first to complain if there was no shelter.
It is also my belief that the issues of the shelter has nothing to do with kill or no-kill, but are political and personal. It is for that reason the parish needs an unattached council willing to hear truth and facts, not choose to vote and make important decisions based on how they feel personally. I also believe that the issue of the shelter is always put out in the front during elections to distract from other issues that do need to be examined and dealt with.
