We had such a wonderful time hosting the Neflin Official Special Collections Interest Group at the duPont-Ball Library Archives and Special Collections at Stetson University last Friday! Archivists and librarians from throughout the northeast Florida region came together to learn about Stetson's long history and our collections, view our archival spaces (and the Innovation Lab), and see some of the special treasures in our care!

Happy birthday to American innovator, philanthropist, and Stetson University benefactor John B. Stetson, born on this day in 1830! From the duPont-Ball Library Archives and Special Collections, here are two birthday gifts we know he received: a desk set made of silver, ivory, mother-of-pearl, and gold presented by his wife Elizabeth and their children on his 62nd birthday in 1892, and a red, white, and blue silk quilt made by employees of the John B. Stetson Company in Philadelphia and presented to him on his 50th birthday in 1880.
