Official Statement from IGNC

We want to address misinformation that has been circulating regarding the relocation of the Fiesta de Amistad activities.

To be absolutely clear, Charro Extremo, nor anyone associated with Charro Extremo, has made any donation or provided any financial incentive to IGNC to influence or convince our organization to move the Fiesta de Amistad activities to the fairgrounds.

The decision to relocate the event was made collectively by the IGNC Board of Directors after the City of Del Rio discontinued providing 100% in-kind support for essential event services, including police officers, permits, and barricades. Without that support, the cost to host the event in its previous location exceeded $4,000, an expense our organization could not sustainably absorb.

After this decision was made, Charro Extremo approached IGNC with a shared vision of helping preserve the Fiesta de Amistad tradition while creating an even larger and more enjoyable experience for our community. We welcomed the opportunity to collaborate because both organizations share the goal of keeping these beloved festivities alive and growing for the benefit of the public.

IGNC remains committed to being transparent in our decisions and acting in the best interest of our organization, our volunteers, and the community we proudly serve.

We appreciate the continued support of the citizens of Del Rio and look forward to celebrating Fiesta de Amistad together.
