Forests for Monarchs
Since 1997, Forests for Monarchs, a program of La Cruz Habitat Protection Project, has helped restore the forest in high need areas and communities around the Monarch Biosphere Reserve and Highland Lakes Watershed Region of Michoacán, Mexico. Trees and pollinators go hand in hand 🌳💛
Monarch butterflies rely on milkweed and nectar-rich plants during the spring and summer, but in winter, they need trees.
That’s why we plant native species like oyamel fir, smooth-bark Mexican pine, Gregg’s pine, and Mexican white pine—vital shelter for overwintering monarchs and other migratory and endemic species.
With another fire recently impacting the Monarch Butterfly Biosphere Reserve, the need for reforestation is greater than ever.
🌱 Help us raise $1,000 this week to reforest critical habitat.
Every $1 = 1 tree planted.
