THIS WEEKEND—MUCEDORUS. A prince in disguise, a princess in distress, a wild man on the prowl, a punch-drunk clown, and … a polar bear—what more could you want from a summertime romance? This June, Resurgens is pleased to present the most popular play of the early modern era, the “most pleasant comedy” of Mucedorus. Directed by Dr. Brent Griffin, our historically informed production revives this highly influential work that, in its day, was reprinted more often than any other drama, including the plays of Shakespeare! Come hear the debut of our new harpsichord, as we celebrate ten years of exquisite musical compositions created exclusively for Resurgens by the one and only Matthew Trautwein! Our seasonal fundraiser, “Words Set in Delightful Proportion,” includes the vocal talents of five of Atlanta’s finest singers—Mala Bhattacharya, Caroline Coleman, Ashley Griffith, Faina Khibkin, and Sims Lamason—in a special evening event that embodies the best of what our company does, as well as what we’ll do in the future.
