David and Lisa Jones fell in love with Avondale for its warm community, beautiful homes,and magnificent tree-lined streets. They moved to Exeter Road in 2013 to what will forever
be known as “the Alquist House,” a 1926 home that inspired their landscape design. Working with Eco Gardens, LLC, they created a plan featuring Emerald Zoysia sod and defined planting beds to complement the home’s architecture. Building on existing
boxwoods, the design includes a Tamukeyama Japanese maple with Lemon Ball sedum and Carex ‘Evergold’ by the driveway, and a coral bark Japanese maple accented by muhly grass, Lemon Ball sedum, Blue Arrow junipers, and Hoogendorn hollies. Viburnum Awabuki along the side of the house completes the cohesive and welcoming landscape.
