DENIM DAY, April 29th is an opportunity to raise awareness and stand with survivors to dispel destructive myths surrounding sexual violence. We wear our jeans and state clearly that what a person was wearing at the time they were assaulted was not an invitation for violence.
Denim Day originated in Italy as an act of protest against the Supreme Court for overturning a conviction, citing their belief that the survivor's “tight jeans” made her complicit in the attack.
Since 1999, Peace over Violence, denimday.org, has used Denim Day to bring awareness to victim blaming and the destructive myths that surround sexual violence.
Join us in wearing denim on Wednesday, April 29!
