There are so many decisions to make before your little one arrives. It's exciting, but it can also feel like a lot. Somewhere on that checklist, you might have, "find a newborn photographer."

If that thought immediately makes you wonder what you'll wear, whether your baby will cooperate, what happens if they're fussy, or how you're supposed to plan a photo session with a brand-new baby.

Take a deep breath.

This is one thing you don't have to figure out on your own.

Walk into your newborn session knowing everything has already been thoughtfully planned, customized to you guys. Know someone is there to gently guide you, prioritize your baby's safety and comfort, and create portraits you'll love long after the tiny yawns, curled-up stretches (it's a thing), and newborn snuggles have become memories.

You don't have to know how it all works.
You don't have to have every detail planned out on your own.
You simply have to decide that these first days are worth remembering. The rest is something we can figure out together.

Preparing for your baby's arrival should feel exciting—not lonely and overwhelming. Your newborn photography experience should be one of the easiest things on your to-do list. Let's make that magic happen together.

What you don't see is the wrong shape.

As anyone with any sort of camera knows, there's different variations of the rectangle that a camera will take. Technically speaking, it's called aspect ratio.

Going into this session, I knew exactly where this portrait would live in their home. Part of my job is to help you make decisions. What to wear, when to have your sessions, HOW to enjoy your images regularly (I put a great deal of thought into this last one).

The margins were pretty slim where this canvas would live- above a two way fireplace, which meant I only had so much real estate to work with. Plus, if I shoot too close, edges need to be extended so the wrap around the canvas is sufficient without cutting off anything important.

With a ton of editing, mom ended up with the exact canvas she was hoping for when I hung it above the fireplace on the kitchen side- where it will be seen and loved, and bring joy multiple times a day.

By the way- that sweet babe is now two- but you can bet mom still remembers what it was like to have her curled up and sleepy with her big sisters.

Mom said they love nature and warm neutrals. I said "bet".

This little guy is on the blog with a session I hadn't even imagined when I built the studio out. But I am SO happy with how every single element of the session went.
