On March 15 at 9:03 PM, A-Shift units with Decatur Fire & Rescue were dispatched to a residential structure fire in the area of Cumberland Avenue SW.
Units responding included Battalion 2, Engine 5, Engine 1, Tower 4, and Engine 2.
Battalion 2 arrived on scene reporting a working fire with smoke showing. Engine 5 arrived shortly after and stretched a pre-connected hose line, making entry into the residence to begin fire attack. At the same time, crews from Engine 1 conducted a primary search of the home.
Firefighters were able to quickly extinguish the fire and bring the situation under control. The family’s cat and dog were rescued and safely returned to their owners.
One family was displaced as a result of the fire. Thankfully, no injuries were reported.
