"Compassion is not a relationship between the healer and the wounded, it's a relationship between equals." ~Pema

This Pema Chödrön quote has been the foundation of my relationship to being a trusted supportive witness on the healing journey with so many people. This next year I will begin a journey that is more in alignment with my nature. I will be pursuing a certificate in coaching that will enable me to share compassion with more people around the world without the same power structures and energy that is inherent in the "therapist and client" dynamic. This will differ from my Georgia and Vermont LCSW offerings. While I will remain licensed there for now, the coaching will dive into greater depths of self work surrounding consciousness, ego work, generational trauma healing, soul/essence exploration, innate intelligence and quantum healing. It is impossible for me to ignore the interconnectedness of our emotional, mental, spiritual, and physical selves. My pursuit of the post masters transpersonal (spiritual) coaching psychology certificate through the Alef Trust will challenge me to grow further into this interconnectedness and grow deeper spiritually before growing and expanding in my offerings to journey with others in their healing.

In the words of Patch Adams- "Each person here is a patient, a doctor, a nurse"

•Everyone is a patient because every person needs some form of help, whether physical, mental, emotional or spiritual.

•Everyone is a healer/doctor/nurse/guide because every person is capable of caring for someone else, even through simple actions like listening, assisting, sharing energy, joining with, cooking, cleaning, or offering comfort.

Together we heal.

Personal note- Notice the bent glasses in my picture? My child crushed them just hours before this picture was taken. This imperfection would have brought up unpleasant emotions in me years ago, now it externally visibly shows the ever present reality of my relationship with my beloved child. We all choose how we engage with and respond to our experiences. We are the creators of our reality. Let's create.

This came out of my mouth a few weeks ago and it has resonated so deeply within me that I had to share it here.

So many people including myself wish our progress was linear- a steady incline in the direction of our goals. Unfortunately, the majority of the time when I must pull back- in the opposite direction of my goal- I forget that like the arrow I am about to be propelled forward. If only every time I feel an unpleasant emotion while being drawn back and down I would remember to relish in the moment with a deep, steady, strong knowing that I am about to launch in the direction of my dreams because of this time.

I hope we all find comfort and trust in our respective journeys.

When you choose to please someone else over yourself you are sabotaging the trust you have with yourself. You are actively telling yourself that you matter less to yourself than other people matter to you. No one else will ever have your back like you do. No one.

We cannot control the thoughts or feelings other people will have about us. No amount of people pleasing can make people like or love you.

So stand up for yourself. Use your voice with authenticity.

"SPEAK YOUR TRUTH EVEN IF YOUR VOICE SHAKES!!!" ~Maggie Kuhn

I was raised by amazing advocates who stood up for what was right in their careers even if it made them unpopular. We must do the same. At the end of the day we go to bed and wake up each day as a culmination of all our actions and inactions. No one is responsible for our behavior except ourselves. What will you do with this amazing life?

Love,
Hanna
