It's been a while since I shared any of my work. I was busy building a workshop, but hope to get back to creating again now more like this Live Edge Oak Vase threaded with small Burls, which are the curly-cue ways the grain of the tree goes (as opposed to the straight lines they usually run in). Burls are rare formations on trees and highly coveted by woodturners

Come see me tomorrow at Lake Claire Holiday Walking Festival! The rain should take a pause for the Festival and I have lots of new work to show you

With all the rain coming, my market was canceled. So instead of coming out tomorrow, enjoy the photos over the coming days.

Here is what's left of the Elm I found. Most done with the live edge.

I'm over here saving worms from the wood I'm turning. Putting them in logs I have that are too far gone to turn. Who does that? How do they survive the spin of the lathe? 😵‍💫🤔

I'm going to be at Briarcliff Woods Beach Club's Holiday Market this Saturday, December 2nd with over 30 other artists and crafters selling our wares, so come check it out if you're local! It should be a fun, sunny day ☀️💙

Hard at work today after selling 2/3rds of my inventory at the Pangborn market this weekend. So...here's my new big bowl: just shy of 8" it's my first Live Edge Bowl, with both Spalding and beautiful Ambrosia coloring throughout.

Come out and see my work in person this Saturday 12-5pm in Decatur.

Taking a break from the Maple to work on some smaller pieces. Here are a few Box Elder, found done on Millcourt Drive in Decatur. It almost looks like gold when polished.

I'm not done yet! Just a few of the bowls from that Spalted Maple.

My first piece made with the Spalted Maple. If you look, you can almost see a Maple Leaf in the design. 8" Bowl

I could not believe my luck when I cut through this piece of Maple I got from a Appleseed Tree Company while they were on Country Squire Drive and it was full of this spalting! These beautiful lines are left in the wood from fungi and make any piece simply phenomenal - just wait!

Cherry can split rather easily along those beautiful grain lines it has. After repairing it with food safe adhesive, I thought a unique way of accenting the repair was the the copper stitching.
