When the memories you share with your family and friends are important, you want to display them front and center. Knowing this about the birthday celebrant, the client wanted to honor those memories and relationships and wanted to incorporate photos in the design for the surprise 60th birthday.
I’m not gonna lie, I usually don’t like edible photos on a cake. It can be challenging to include a collage of pictures in an elegant way. So we made them black and white to have a simple color palette. We made this one a while back, but I still love the way it turned out. And more importantly the client and birthday celebrant ❤️ the cake too.
Behind the buttercream: Rich chocolate cake with a salted caramel striping layer and a salted caramel buttercream and fragrant strawberry cake with a sweet and tart raspberry striping layer and silky vanilla buttercream
