Happy World Reef Day!

Today we're celebrating Georgia's beautiful coral reefs and the humans who are fighting to keep them safe.

Approximately 80-100 miles off the Georgia coast lies the largest known deep-water coral reef on Earth, in a part of the Atlantic Ocean known as Blake Plateau. The 200-mile-long dense coral highway dubbed “Million Mounds” supports a trove of biodiversity.

Chatham County, Georgia Government recently passed a proclamation honoring Blake Plateau and promising to continue to be good stewards of coastal and ocean environments. We're excited about this step towards greater protections for this holy place.

As we reflect on the meaning of sacrifice and the generosity it calls forth, we are reminded of the gifting cycle present in the natural world. May this season inspire us to keep the spirit of generosity alive as we care for each other and our Common Home.

Earlier this month, members of our team attended the Citizens Climate Lobby's Building Bridges to Climate Solutions Regional Conference at the Atlanta Friends Meeting (Quakers). It's always a blessing to connect with others who are dedicated to meaningful climate solutions.
