The new Wise County EMS Station 5 in Alvord will begin full-time ambulance service June 1 — a move county officials say will significantly reduce emergency response times in northwest Wise County.

In addition to reducing the time to deliver lifesaving care to the Alvord and Chico areas, Wise County EMS Chief Randall Preuninger said the new station will also offer critical relief for the work load of EMS crews based in Decatur and Bridgeport.
