They had four children and have seven grandchildren. The Sims live in Decatur on a farm called Sunshine. Betty co-authored the Junior Service League of Morgan Country Cookbook, Cotton Country Cooking, which has sold over 200,000 copies and continues to be in demand. She also owned and operated a very successful restaurant, Johnston St. Cafe and catering service for ten years.
