April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month.
This month is a reminder that awareness is not passive—it calls us to act, to listen, and to support survivors with compassion, respect, and evidence-based care.
Sexual violence affects individuals, families, and communities across every setting. Survivors deserve access to timely, trauma-informed, and equitable care, as well as systems that prioritize dignity, safety, and justice.
As healthcare professionals, advocates, and community members, we each have a role:
• Believe survivors
• Promote trauma-informed practices
• Advocate for access to forensic and healthcare services
• Commit to ongoing education and accountability
Together, we can strengthen systems of care, reduce stigma, and ensure survivors are met with the expertise and humanity they deserve.
