DECATUR WATER DEPARTMENT RESPONDS SWIFTLY TO VALVE ISSUE DURING EXTREME COLD SNAP

Decatur, Texas - The Decatur Water Department took prompt action in response to a valve issue at the Thompson elevated tower site caused by the recent spell of extremely cold temperatures. The incident resulted in the release of several hundred gallons of water before mitigations were successfully completed.

Due to the freezing weather conditions, the water runoff led to the formation of ice on side streets and parking lots in the immediate surrounding area. Decatur Police collaborated with the Water Department to manage traffic, ensuring the safety of residents and commuters. Concurrently, dedicated street crews were mobilized to clear the affected areas and apply sand to mitigate any potential hazards.

The Decatur Water Department sincerely apologizes for any inconvenience caused by this unforeseen incident. The safety and well-being of our community are of utmost importance, and we appreciate the patience and understanding of our residents during this time.
