fast food restaurants, retail stores, and gas stations. I am running for office because I have experienced poverty. I have experienced the conditions that millions of working class people are expected to live with. A couple years ago, my gallbladder just stopped functioning. I needed immediate medical care, including several visits to the emergency room, in order to survive. And, like many people, those visits saddled me with tens of thousands of dollars of medical debt, despite the fact that I was insured at the time. This is an abject failure of the systems of power in this country. Our government has failed to provide a just society, not only for me, but for all of its citizens. Radical change is necessary to rectify that failure. Someone has to do something. That’s why I’m running for office.
