The discharge of is prohibited by ordinance within the City Limits of Decatur.
If the discharging of Fireworks is located, responsible parties will have their Fireworks confiscated and can be issued a citation with a fine of up to $2,000.

Outside of the City, the Wise County Fire Marshal's Office references our Wise County Burn Ban as it relates to fire-causing agents.

To check the status of the Wise County burn ban on any given day, call 940-627-5870 and press option 4.
The recorded line will tell you if the burn ban is active for the day.

These steps will allow first responders to know what is going on, the material being burned and a location if they get dispatched to the area.

If issued, ***NO BURN DAYS*** means that when the National Weather Service issues an Elevated, Critical, Extreme, or Red Flag Fire Danger then open burning, welding, or the use of fireworks outside the city is not allowed.
