Shire Ranch Homestead

We did a thing. We added a little human to our family & homestead. We welcomed Evelyn Muirne Bruce into this world on the evening of September 4th in our family room. Everyone is doing awesome & we are enjoying this quiet time of being together.

Just harvested another 7 pounds of jalapeños. We are swimming in peppers this year.

Gimli inspects every harvest basket we bring in. Today's harvest included - tomatoes, bell peppers, jalapeños, red rocket peppers, green beans, pinto beans, corn & eggs from the ladies.

This year's goal has been to 1) harvest daily and 2) process the harvest daily. Processing can be many different things, like washing & storing on the counter or in the fridge. Or dehydrating, freezing, fermenting or canning. So far we have mostly kept up.

August garden

The lilac bell peppers are beginning to turn! I'm so excited to have fresh peppers again & to stock up our freezers with diced & julienned peppers for the winter!
