Juneteenth marks June 19, 1865—the day the last enslaved African Americans in Galveston, Texas, learned of their freedom, more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation was signed. This historic day represents not only the end of slavery for many, but also the enduring pursuit of freedom, justice, and opportunity for all.

As we celebrate Juneteenth, let us honor the resilience, strength, and contributions of those who came before us. While progress has been made, the journey toward equality and understanding continues. Today is a time to reflect on our shared history, celebrate how far we've come, and recommit ourselves to building a future rooted in unity, compassion, and hope.
