In California, EFNEP is administered by the University of California Cooperative Extension. As a result of participating in EFNEP, individuals and families experience improvements in four core areas:
Diet Quality and Physical Activity—Improved diets and nutritional and physical well-being through the adoption of federal food and physical activity recommendations
Food Resource Management—Increase

Through EFNEP, participants learn practical food safety skills that help keep families healthy and reduce the risk of foodborne illness. Safe food handling, preparation, and storage are important steps toward a healthier home.

Staff from UC ANR and CA EFNEP attended the National Health Outreach & Engagement Conference in St. George, Utah.
This year’s theme, *“Pathways to Peaks – Strengthening Health and Communities,”* highlighted the importance of collaboration, innovation, and community engagement in improving health outcomes. Workshops focused on Extension collaboration and strategies to help communities stay healthy and thrive.
EFNEP teams from across the nation including North Carolina and many other states , gathered to exchange ideas, build partnerships, and learn from one another.
Azin Pourkhalili, UC Cooperative Extension Area Youth, Families and Communities Advisor, presented on using AI to promote health education, along with additional work in diabetes prevention.
It was inspiring to connect with so many dedicated professionals committed to strengthening healthy communities.
