Leadership in action!
This summer, Bayside Academy students continued a proud tradition of leadership and civic engagement by representing our school at two of Alabama’s premier leadership programs.
Congratulations to Sebastian Winstead and Cruz McMurry, who attended Alabama Boys State, and Ava Bindon, who attended Alabama Girls State. These prestigious programs bring together outstanding rising seniors from across the state for an immersive experience in leadership, citizenship, and government. Participants learn firsthand how local and state government functions while developing valuable leadership skills and building connections with fellow student leaders.
We are proud of Sebastian, Cruz, and Ava for embracing this opportunity to grow as leaders and represent Bayside Academy with excellence. The future is bright with Admirals leading the way

Some people leave a mark on a school. Others help shape its very foundation.
For 50 years, Marilee Propst has been a constant presence in the life of Bayside Academy. Throughout her remarkable career, she has served in countless roles—Early School teacher, Division Head, Director of Auxiliary Programs, coach, mentor, event volunteer, and so much more. Whether she was greeting our youngest learners, helping families navigate school life, working lunch duty, collecting tickets at athletic events, or cheering on Admirals from the sidelines, Marilee approached every task with the same unwavering dedication and care.
Generations of students have been touched by her kindness, guidance, and belief in the Bayside community. She has celebrated milestones and helped create the warm, welcoming culture that makes Bayside such a special place.
At the close of the 2025-26 school year, we proudly celebrated Marilee's 50 years of service and commitment to Bayside Academy. Her impact can be measured not only in years, but in the hundreds of Admirals whose lives she has influenced along the way.
Thank you, Mrs. Propst, for five decades of leadership and devotion to Bayside. Your legacy will continue to inspire generations of Admirals for years to come.
