Because 2/3 of the world’s population are oral learners – most of whom are unreached by the gospel – our approach to ministry is uniquely different. Oral learners do not read as their primary means of sharing and learning; therefore, we deliver Truth the way they understand best – through spoken rather than written words. And while our work focuses on individual lives being transformed, the impact made is far greater, as entire communities are moved to walk in Truth.

Regional Focus: East & South Africa & West Africa 🌍

Millions across East & South Africa and West Africa are still waiting to hear the gospel in a way they can truly understand. Many are oral learners who need to hear God's Word in their own language.

Through Oral Bible Translation and Oral Discipleship, local believers are bringing Scripture to their communities, creating opportunities for people to hear, understand, and respond to God's Word for the very first time.

Here's how God is at work:
🔸 Two Oral New Testament projects are nearing completion, bringing whole communities closer to hearing Scripture in their heart language.

🔸 In Nigeria, two new Oral Bible Translation projects have launched, while Oral Discipleship groups continue to grow in Nigeria and Zambia, equipping local believers to share and live out God's Word.

🔸 In Egypt and Uganda, displaced Sudanese communities are hearing Scripture in Sudanese Arabic as local leaders use Oral Discipleship to bring the hope of Christ to those affected by war.

Every translated passage and every new disciple means more lives are being transformed through God's Word.

🙏 Please pray with us—for wisdom and strength for local leaders, open hearts, and for God's Word to continue spreading from one community to the next.

One woman heard God's Word in her own language—and it changed everything. ❤️
Nyankai, a 26-year-old mother of four from Bukabwa, Tanzania, had always struggled to read and spoke very little Swahili. For years, accessing Scripture felt out of reach.

Then she heard God's Word in Kabwa—the language of her heart.

Through Spoken's Oral Discipleship Discovery Bible Study groups, Nyankai listened to oral Scripture and began discovering God's truth for herself. The result wasn't just greater understanding, it was a transformed life.

Today, she is growing in obedience to Christ, treating others with greater patience and love, and confidently sharing God's Word with people in her community.
Nyankai says none of this would have been possible without oral Scripture in Kabwa.

This is the power of heart-language Scripture. When people can understand God's Word, they don't just hear it—they live it, share it, and pass it on to others.🧡

Will you pray with us for the Kabwa people?

🙏 Pray that many hearts will be open to the gospel and place their faith in Christ.
🙏 Pray that more SD cards and MP3 players, loaded with translated Scripture, can be distributed so more people can hear God's Word.
🙏 Pray for local leaders as they faithfully disciple others and share Scripture throughout their communities.

🤝 When the Church and Bible Translation Work Together

Recently in Indonesia, with the West Kutai Oral Bible Translation team, local pastors, church leaders, and Bible translation partners gathered for two days to explore a powerful truth: Bible translation is not separate from the mission of the Church—it is an essential part of it.

The gathering focused on how Oral Bible Translation and Oral Discipleship can strengthen evangelism, discipleship, church planting, and spiritual growth within oral communities.

Together, leaders discussed the importance of making Scripture available in the heart languages of the people and the vital role local churches play in ensuring God's Word is faithful, understandable, and embraced by their communities.

For many oral learners, hearing Scripture in their own language and in a format they naturally understand through listening and storytelling can open the door to a deeper engagement with God's Word.

We are encouraged to see local church leaders embracing this vision and working together to help ensure every community has the opportunity to hear, understand, and share the life-changing message of Scripture.

🙏 Please pray for these leaders as they continue serving their communities and helping God's Word reach those who have never had access to it in their heart language.
