*WISDOM FOR TODAY.*
*DO YOU WANT GOD TO HEAR YOUR PRAYERS? (2)*
*Scripture Treasure.*
John 16:24.
*Hitherto have ye asked nothing in my name: ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full.*
*Insight and Highlight.*
Believe God will hear you when you pray in the name of Jesus. He will not ask you to do what you will not gain from.
*Scripture Commentaries.*
When you give, you will get.
When you pray in the name of Jesus, you will get or receive in the name of Jesus.
Jesus tells his disciples of His open invitation to them to approach God with bold, confident prayer, grounded in the assurance that God is a generous Giver but it has to be through Him.
In John 16:24, Jesus said *Hitherto have ye asked nothing in my name: ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full.*
Prayer must be based on this promise. Jesus told His disciples that from His resurrection, they can pray directly to God the Father in His name and receive absolute spiritual fulfillment.
As we continue on prayer as one of the most powerful spiritual weapons of our warfare and focusing on what to do if we want our prayers heard, we must not close up our prayers in any other name but in the name of Jesus.
The ultimate aim of prayer is more than what we are asking for. It is an expression of a deep, complete spiritual satisfaction and fellowship with God.
One may ask why those who do not ask God in the name of Jesus prosper.
The first explanation is that there is a general covering, a universal grace, of God over mankind out of God's perfect attribute as a good God and this reflects in the life of the children of men. This miracle of God is reflected in them not because they asked but because God gave them because of His divine nature as a Father and Creator.
Second is that God gives freely and prosperity is not a proof of God's approval of a person neither is poverty a disapproval of a person.
Asaph, the psalmist in Psalm 73, asked God why the wicked prosper and increase in riches, he envied the foolish, prideful, corrupt and how often they live longer, but he ultimately realized their earthly prosperity is temporary and they will face divine judgment.
It is an acceptable and directive from God to ask in Jesus name. This is the only prayer God answers, (Acts 4:2, Philpns 2:10-11), if He chooses to.
Any request that is not made in the name Jesus but appears answered by God has only benefited under a universal grace/covering given by God as a Father.
It must also be noted that not everyone directs request to God. People often call on idols and they offer sacrifices to them in return for gifts/miracles of all kinds from them, 1 Kgs 18:27. They offer children to idols, 2 Kgs 3:7.
God will only refuse to hear any prayer, though it is asked in the name of Jesus, if it is a selfish prayer, Jam 4:3.
Do you want your prayers answered?
Are you praying in the name of Jesus?
Are you worried that though you have been praying in the name of Jesus your prayers have not been answered?
Remember that while "in Jesus' name" is spoken at the end of a prayer, as commanded, and a trust in the name that God would answer you, it is not a magic formula, incantation or enchantment.
The name can work instantly or at the fullness of God's time.
It is not a name magical but an assurance that God will be attentive to work things out for you. You can not "bribe" God with the name only godly character will avail.
*Remorse corner.*
Praying in the name of Jesus is a sincere expression to God that you honour Jesus and thank God He gave you Jesus.
*The Christian clarion duty.*
Do you want your prayers answered?
Make sure you ask in the name of Jesus and your heart posture of approaching God the Father is with the backing, merit, and character of Jesus Christ.
*Prayer.*
Lord, please let my heart align with the will of Jesus as l pray to You in Jesus name.
Good morning all and have a blessed day.
God bless you.
Shalom.
