My first Mother’s Day without my mom. I’m taking to reflect on myself and the person I’ve become due to being raised by the strongest person I’ve ever met or known.

This rose is from her garden she gifted me 2 months before her passing. It bloomed finally just in time for Mother’s Day weekend.

If you have a loving relationship with your mom, or have a maternal figure in your life- call them often. Tell them how much you love them, not just today, but everyday.

It wasn’t till my mom was sick that I gave her kisses on the forehead for goodnight. She loved it so much and the smile was priceless. I wished I had done it sooner. We were never a touchy, hugging, type of family.

I replayed all the memories I have over the years. The good and the bad. The times I made her cried because I was a bad teenager to the times I made her cried from laughter. I think about the day I had to walk down the aisle 3 days after her funeral. I know she walked beside me in spirit but I would give anything to have her physically there.

I love you mom. Forever and always. Shine bright for me up there. I promise I’m trying to be good.
