Don’t Let Scammers Steal Your Peace of Mind (or Your Medicare Info!)

Unfortunately, Medicare scams are on the rise — and they’re getting sneakier every year. If you get a call, email, or even a knock on your door asking for your Medicare number or personal info, pause before you respond.

Here are 5 warning signs that it might be a scam:
1️⃣ Someone calls claiming to be from Medicare and asks for your Medicare number or Social Security info.
2️⃣ You’re told you must pay a fee to keep or renew your Medicare card.
3️⃣ You receive an “urgent” message saying your benefits will end unless you act immediately.
4️⃣ You’re promised a “free” gift, medical equipment, or refund in exchange for your Medicare number.
5️⃣ The message or call feels rushed, threatening, or too good to be true.

How to protect yourself:
✔️ Never share your Medicare number unless you’ve initiated the contact.
✔️ Hang up on unsolicited calls claiming to be from Medicare.
✔️ Review your Medicare Summary Notices for suspicious charges.

✔️ Report scams at 1-800-MEDICARE (1-800-633-4227).
