Update: Texans on Mission volunteers are hard at work helping Louisiana residents move forward after Tropical Storm Arthur devastated communities.

Floodwaters tore through homes in Louisiana. Residents could do nothing but watch brokenheartedly. Homes they lived in for decades were destroyed in a moments notice.

Drenched in sweat from the heat and humidity, TXM volunteers are joyfully showing up removing water-damaged drywall, furnishings and floor. They are encouraging survivors and praying with them. They are reminding these families they are not alone.

“They came and did a good job. I see them as part of my family now," Yolanda Griffin, a 38-year resident of Cottonport, Louisiana, said. "They showed that they cared… It was like strangers, but somehow we were connected like we were a family.”

This work is so important. Showing up for our neighbors is what we are called to do, and we're grateful that TXM volunteers are doing it. Thank you to every volunteer dedicating their time to helping the residents of Louisiana move forward. Please continue to pray for those impacted and for those serving every family affected.
