For those that are just getting started in reef keeping. And even those that are either looking to change lights or build your own DIY fixture, take a moment to read this article. It really helps to understand the importance of PAR and it's associated PUR/PAS levels needed to obtain the best benefits to your photosynthetic reef inhabitants. Days are long gone that claim so many watts per gallon are needed. That technique is old news that should not be considered any longer with advancements in lighting and the different types available now days with differences of input/output.
