This machine was filled with transmission fluid. It destroyed the transmission.

These transmissions are not made to use transmission fluid. They are vertical and this type of fluid does not travel upward.

For ESSICK/Whiteman

Use 80W90 gear oil for the transmission chamber and SAE30 motor oil for the clutch chamber.

For Toro/Stone

Use 80W90 for all since the chambers are open and the same fluid feeds both chambers.
