We do everything in God's power to support one another, to grow in our relationship with not only God, but our people and community as well. Our doors stand open to all who will enter, if you have a hard time finding a church where you "fit", then give us a chance to help you join this family. To the hurting, broken, needy we have been there, and God has given us a light in our hearts, so give us a chance to share it with you.

Day 3: Refusing to Let Others Dictate Your Hope

Scripture:
“Sir,” the woman said, “you have nothing to draw with and the well is deep. Where can you get this living water? Are you greater than our father Jacob...?” — John 4:11-12

Reflect: The woman’s immediate reaction to Jesus was skepticism based on human limitations and tradition. She was operating under what "they" said was possible. It echoes the warning in Jeremiah 17:13, where those who turn away from God, the fountain of living waters, wind up with nothing to show for their lives.
When we let the media, political rhetoric, or cynical voices dictate our outlook, we turn our backs on hope. We become deserters of the Living Water, settling for shallow, dry wells. Jesus invites the woman—and us—to look beyond what human history and critics dictate, and to look instead at who is standing right in front of us.

Go Deeper (Beyond What Others Dictate): Are you letting the shouting matches of culture define your hope, or are you listening to the quiet, powerful request of Jesus?

Daily Challenge: Take a break from the noise today—turn off the news or social media for a few hours. Spend that time listening to the voice of God through scripture.

Prayer: Father, rescue me from the cynicism of this world. I refuse to let the voices of culture dictate my capacity for hope. You are the fountain of living waters; I choose to anchor my mind in You. Amen.

The Tension of Our True Condition
Scripture:

“Now he had to go through Samaria... When a Samaritan woman came to draw water, Jesus said to her, ‘Will you give me a drink?’” — John 4:4, 7

Reflect:
If we believe in American exceptionalism, we must hold two truths in balance: America’s foundations are deeply rooted in a Judeo-Christian ethic, yet we, as citizens, have regularly failed to live up to that ethical standard. The Declaration of Independence declares that all are created equal, yet history shows our imperfect ex*****on of that ideal.

Jesus intentionally walked into Samaria—a region the Jews viewed as a failed, broken community. He didn’t avoid the brokenness; He stepped right into it. To be true followers, we must start with radical honesty about our own condition and the condition of our nation.

Go Deeper (Beyond Self-Interest):
We often focus on self-preservation and planning—aiming small so we don’t miss. But Jesus calls us out of our comfort zones. Are you willing to look past your own self-interest to see where God wants to bring healing?

Daily Challenge:
Be honest with yourself today. Confess an area where you have valued your own comfort over the ethical, loving behavior Jesus commends.

Prayer: Lord, give me the courage to see myself and my nation clearly. Help me not to hide behind ideals, but to humbly admit where I fall short. Thank You for stepping into my brokenness just as You stepped into Samaria. Amen.
