Apple’s iPhone 18 Pro and first foldable iPhone are both in advanced development, but at different stages.

The iPhone 18 Pro has entered the Production Validation Test (PVT) phase as of early 2026, focusing on mass production readiness. Key areas include testing the 2nm A20 Pro chip, a new variable aperture camera, and under-display Face ID. It remains on track for a September 2026 launch.

Meanwhile, the iPhone Fold is still in the Engineering Validation Test (EVT) phase, concentrating on core design challenges like hinge durability, crease-free display technology, and Touch ID integration. While it may be announced alongside the Pro model, its release is likely delayed to December 2026.

In short, the iPhone 18 Pro is nearing production, while the foldable iPhone is still refining its hardware and design.
