The funny thing is...
I wasn't interested when we first met.
I was young, 18 years old and just moved away from home and staying with my Aunt and cousin. I was focused on school and my daughter but yet still ready to hit the club, drink with my girls and do whatever came our way.

He was this great guy, PK (Pastor's Kid) very calm, quiet; listened more than he spoke. He became my friend, my best friend to be exact. Although I wasn't interested in a relationship I did have a desire to just know him. We would spend hours on the phone talking about my relationships and the girls he dated. We grew a genuine relationship.

I understood the kind guy he was and the kind of woman he wanted. I tried to hook him up with girls that I thought would be great for him. He came with a standard.

I had this idea that since I was still partying, hanging out and just doing me; him and I just wouldn't work.

The reason was simple. I knew that being with him would require change in my life and I simply did not want to change. I was good with where I was and what I was doing. We remained friends for four years, nothing more, nothing less.

After spending so much time in heartache and toxic relationships. I became tired and just said "ok Lord let's try it your way." I gave my life to Christ and He definitely stepped in changed it for the better. After much prayer and time I finally agreed to try this thing out with him.

We dated for less than a year, 8 months to be exact and he asked me to marry him. The best decision I ever made!

It will soon be 12years with this man and the running joke between us when I ask him "Babe where you been all my life"? He responds "Right here waiting for you"! ❤️

God's Plan is way better than mine!

The one thing that has motivated me to achieve every goal I set out to achieve has been the company I kept.

It has been the people I chose to surround myself with. It has been their achievements, intelligence, and the evidence of their successes that has pushed me into the woman I have become.

It wasn't jealousy, comparison, and/or lack of self confidence but admiration, constructive criticism, accountability and wisdom to consider the source.

These women are women who understand their purpose and the desires of the Lord for their lives. They hold the wisdom to know that there is room and plenty of food for all of us to eat.

I have absorbed so much from them which has put a fire under me to continuously take off. They know that the seeds they've planted in me were definitely planted in good ground. Their words were not taken in vain, their resources were used, their character development was instilled in me and because it is nearly impossible to stay complacent and stagnant when connected to people who are moving; you don't waist time "just talking" you make something happen!

It is because of this reason that my name has been mentioned in rooms full of opportunity by people who understand that there is room for ALL of us at the table.

And to remember that once you take a seat.... always stay hungry!
