In 2015 the 5–4 Supreme Court decision for Obergefell v. Hodges gave marriage equality to LGBTQ+ couples. This decision created more legal protections for LGBTQ families, but the law is always changing. Estate Planning for LGBTQ+ families and individuals needs to include extra protections and precautions to combat any legal blind spots. This includes guardianship, protecting one's identity, ensuring inheritance goes where you want it, and more.
