Tribute Hospice Recognized as a We Honor Veterans Partner
Tribute Hospice demonstrates commitment to delivering Veteran-centric care as a We Honor Veterans partner
North Texas— Over 300,000 Veterans die each year in the United States. However, 95% of Veterans receive health care outside of the VA at the end of life. Therefore, many Veterans and their families are not aware of the end-of-life services and benefits they are entitled to. To provide specialized support and care that reflects the contributions made by our nation’s Veterans, Tribute Hospice has become a national partner of We Honor Veterans, a pioneering program developed by the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization (NHPCO) in collaboration with the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).
We Honor Veterans was launched in 2010 by NHPCO and the VA to address the growing need for Veteran-centered end-of-life care, especially as Veterans from different service eras are aging and require access to Veteran-centric palliative and hospice care. The We Honor Veterans program encourages respectful inquiry, compassionate listening, and grateful acknowledgment, coupled with Veteran-centric education of healthcare staff caring for Veterans.
We Honor Veterans provides tiered recognition to organizations that demonstrate a systematic commitment to improving care for Veterans at life’s end. As a Level One WHV partner, Tribute Hospice has implemented Veteran-centric education for staff, integrated intake processes for identifying Veterans, and begun to establish community partnerships with other hospice providers and Veterans organizations. By recognizing the unique needs of our nation’s Veterans who are facing a life-limiting illness, Tribute Hospice is better able to guide Veterans and their families toward a more peaceful ending. In cases where there are specific needs related to a Veteran’s military service, combat experience, or other traumatic events, Tribute Hospice, will provide tools to help support these needs,
As a partner, Tribute Hospice has demonstrated a systematic commitment to improving care for veterans at life's end, allowing us to better guide veterans and their families toward a more peaceful ending.

A message we recently received from a family member:
“Hello! Thank you for everything! You made her transition so easy for everyone. Your kindness will always be remembered.”
Being chosen as a partner on her life’s journey was truly an honor for us.

This week we celebrate all nurses who made the decision to make a difference by helping patients in every field of medicine.
They say a picture is worth a thousand words. We would need a thousand more pictures to show our gratitude.
Thank you!
