Today was a great opportunity. I was invited to speak to with participants of "Pathways to Promise" about the art of journaling and the impact it can have on mental health, decision making, and emotional regulation. The primary audience being teens and young adults that grew up in foster care. These participants are fantastic! They are on their way to create bright futures. They engaged and welcomed me to have a conversation about unleashing their inner stories and the power of personal narrative.

I sincerely appreciate the support of who connected me to the event.
Advocacy comes in many forms, from all of us. Gestures like sharing insight uplifts those around us and provides them encouragement to express their authenticity.
Make time for others, however you can. During this session, the participants created powerful poetry and prose - on the spot! I am always in awe of the artistry that exists in all of us.

Oh, you know... Sunrise and window plants. That's two things to be grateful for. Try building your "appreciation inventory" by simply observing the world around you. Things you easily take for granted when rushing through the day can become impactful moments of awareness.
Curious observations:
Does appreciation have to be pretty things or picture-worthy?
What can you appreciate that might be difficult or challenging?
What will happen if you find yourself experiencing more appreciation and less negativity bias?
You are worthy of another day, another chance, another opportunity to discover who you are, inside and out. Let go of expectations and doubt.
Be patient, kind, and understanding to yourself. Perfection is a mythical unicorn that you chase after while grappling with the weight of self judgment. In other words, it's hard to keep up.
What words and things around you are you grateful for today?

Good morning from Montana! First night on the retreat, our veterans group enjoyed a cliff side dinner with a beautiful view overlooking flowing water.
More to come!

Well, howdy! So, it's been a bit since I've posted on all the socials. Let me start by saying taking breaks from social media is absolutely okay. Sometimes we need to remember that our lives exist with the people and experiences that we share a connection with in the real. Our focus might be guided elsewhere by opportunity, hardship, or the unexpected.
For those of you that are not familiar with me (or wondering why I'm showing up on your feed 😉), I'm Jeremy Fusco. I am a licensed clinical social worker and psychotherapist in private practice at Mind Above where I work with a diverse client population talking about feelings, life, relationships, health, well-being, and other therapeutic woo-woo.
🤓What I am: ally to LGBTQ+, U.S. Air Force veteran, volunteer, veterans and military advocate, justice-involved provider, outdoors enthusiast, Star Wars fan, and ardent supporter of mental health that encourages realistic healing for each person.
🚫What I am not: Judgmental, Dr. Phil, psychic, or the only therapist that can help.
🤔What I am up to: Talking feelings, facilitating clinical and psychoeducation of veterans retreats that range from ski trips to dude ranches to skydiving and more, seeing people online and in-person for mental/behavioral care, creating well-being guidebooks, and some other cool things.
😄What I am looking forward to: Continuing to provide kick-ass authentic care for others, growing the unique services that assist people, treating each person holistically not just their diagnosis.
Be prepared for more to come! I look forward to sharing more updates and hope you have a great week.
