MEDICARE REMINDER: PROTECT YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION
You may be seeing advertisements that say things like:
“Call now to see if you qualify for additional Medicare benefits!”
These types of ads are common during the Medicare Advantage Open Enrollment Period (January 1 – March 31) and the Annual Enrollment Period (October 15 – December 7).
Before responding to any advertisement or unsolicited phone call, remember:
• Only share your Medicare number or personal information with a licensed agent or organization you trust.
• Make sure you understand who you are speaking with and what plan they represent.
• Some “extra benefits” mentioned in advertisements may only apply to individuals who meet certain eligibility requirements, such as those who qualify for both Medicare and Medicaid or specific plan types.
• Always review your options carefully before requesting an enrollment.
If you ever have questions about Medicare coverage or want to review your current plan, I’m always happy to help you understand your options.

In some situations, a Wellpoint insurance plan may allow you to use WellMed doctors, but the two serve very different roles—one is the insurance carrier, the other is the medical provider.
If your Medicare benefits are through companies such as UnitedHealthcare (AARP-UHC), Humana, Aetna, or others, WellMed may be included in their provider networks. In other words, WellMed might be a doctor group within the network, depending on your plan.
Wellpoint, by contrast, is itself a Medicare insurance provider—similar to UHC, Humana, or Aetna—if you are choosing a Medicare health plan.
So don’t let the similar names confuse you. They
