I wanted to make sure and take the time to properly address this post as I can see what is trying to convey but I believe it was done in the wrong manner. As a physical therapist, coach and Crossfit gym owner, this statement is troubling. 1st the purpose of becoming a physical therapist is not to treat athletes. It’s to learn about how the body functions, how to properly diagnose a patient and then help them return to a more functional life style. Our schooling consists of high level biomechanics classes, differential diagnosis and structural abnormalities. People have a misconception that as a healthcare provider we fix everything. WRONG! I can easily say the same about trainers. I wish I lived in a world where instructions from a trainer to foam roll will fix their back pain. NO! Just like any profession, there are good therapist and bad therapist. However, just because someone took a weekend course on how to “squat” doesn’t make them an expert on how to squat.l and definitely doesn’t take precedence over 3 years of a doctorate program where we have to pass a state exam, not just a 1 hr test. You can not put a human body in a “box” and fix everyone the same. If you do, then get out of my profession. I’ve worked hand in hand with great coaches/trainers such as and .fitness where we communicate on a clients issue or problem. Guess what, it was a team effort. So, I’d say let’s work together instead of trying to bash one another.
