We want to bring to your attention the most concerning plight for Nigerians living in America: the culture in diaspora. This statement is a harsh truth but in all reality, the success of the culture is dependent on the generations that come after. Can we truly say that the Nigerian culture has been completely successful in the United States? For a long time, Nigerians have dwelt in the abundance o
f opportunity presented in this country, but unfortunately these blessings have caused many families to disregard the effort in furthering the values of language, history, knowledge, and pride in their offspring. Majority of Nigerian youth do not know their native tongue, the recipe to traditional foods, and/or the lineage of their family history. The most disheartening of all is that many of them lack the desire to obtain such knowledge simply because we have become too comfortable in such circumstances. Our culture is not an idea of the past; it should continue to be evident in our communities whether we are in Nigeria or any other country. We cannot let the fruitfulness of Nigeria end with our parents. PART 2™ is a forthcoming non-profit organization that wants to restore and maintain the traditions and unique characteristics that connect our people back to our home country. There are many Nigerian-based organizations in the DFW Metroplex, but none with the ambition such as ours. Our primary goal is to reconnect Nigerian descendants back to our rich culture from our children all the way to our adults. We want to leave future generations something greater that they can be a part of. An organization they can call their own for generations to come. We intend to reclaim our culture through events and projects that will empower, educate, and serve the second generation of Nigerians on a more consistent basis. PART 2™ plans to help our culture grow as the population of Nigerians born in America continues to increase. As everything that has a new beginning, it is essential to build a strong foundation.
