I had a conversation with a client recently. They wanted to freshen up an area of their house but wondered if it was a good idea to spend the cash. She told us they still needed to remodel their restrooms. So I asked, “ Is this a master or a guest bath we’re talking about?”. — “Master”. — “Don’t even think about it.” I strongly advised her to hold off on the front area and wait until they’re ready to consider planning for the Master Bath. Why? PEOPLE. This is your home first! Yours! These are the things that affect your daily life that you don’t even realize! Get some QUALITY craftsmen. Invest in yourself FIRST.

Master suite layout we completed on a spec home in Old Lake Highlands.
Bedroom → bathroom → closet → utility all connected the way it should be.
This one was all about keeping it clean, functional, and easy to live in: • Double vanity with plenty of storage
• Walk-in closet with built-ins
• Laundry right off the suite
• Bright, simple finishes that don’t feel overdone
It’s one of those layouts that just works day to day.
Dallas / East Dallas homeowners — quick question:
If you could improve one thing in your home, what would it be?
• Primary bathroom
• Closet space
• Laundry location
• More open layout
Curious what people are thinking about this year.

Dallas homeowners — quick question.

If you could add one space to your house, what would it be?

We’re currently working on a project in Old Lake Highlands where the homeowners wanted two things: a better bathroom and a real laundry space.

So we designed a ~220 sq-ft bathroom + laundry addition with a new rear gable roof that ties into the existing house.

Before we build anything, we spend time working through the plans — layout, roof tie-ins, windows, and how the addition will blend with the existing home.

Curious what others would choose if they had the option:

• Larger bathroom
• Laundry room
• Walk-in closet
• Mudroom

Always interesting to see what homeowners prioritize.
