It's been a while since I posted an update, so here's the scoop to bring you all up to speed! The past few years, I've been in the learning phase, and only now do I feel like I'm getting a grasp as to what all is involved with being an independent musician. To give you an idea of what that looks like, here is a list of all the roles I have to fill in order to function as my own label: Artist/Brand Developement, Songwriter, Artist, Producer, Sound Engineer, Master, Manager, Business and Legal Registration, Social Media and Marketing, Visual Creative and Graphic Design, the list goes on...

What does all this mean? It means that I write my own songs, I create the sound recordings with vocals/ instrumentation and arrangements from scratch and then mix the arrangement to sit in the proper place within the field of sound, then I have to optimize the mix for different formats for aural consumption. All that is what is required to create a product and only constitutes for about 15% of what it takes to be an independent artist. All the rest is learning how to function as a business and actually make money off my craft. It is completely overwhelming which is why most artists hope to get signed by a label. The problem is, you sign your rights and your life away if you do, and more often than not, end up in deep debt to the label.

Now that you know a little of what I'm taking on, I want to thank EACH and EVERY ONE of you who hasn't given up on me! You don't know how encouraging it is when you reach out to inquire about my music and show your support. With 43 songs written, I have the outline of 4 albums. Only 3 more songs to write to complete the outline for my first album, which will have 19 songs. Then begins the audio production process. Just off the top of my head, here is a checklist I made of the things I need to do leading up to this first album release. One of my goals is to become more consistent with keeping you all in the loop. So thank you for your patience with my inconsistency!

In the meantime, I covet your prayers. This last year has put me through the wringer and I lost out on nearly a year of work due to medical issues. I found out that I had stage iv endometriosis with many complications. This required 3 major surgeries to fix (for now) and continuing follow up care. Needless to say, finances are super tight. Life is hard, but God is faithful. I pray that all this hard work will not be in vain, and that when complete, it will bring true enrichment to your lives. Solo Deo Gloria!
